Stephan has over 14 years of experience working in the environmental field, specialising in mining, development and the industrial sector. During his career Stephan was responsible for functions such as lead Environmental Assessment Practitioner for Environmental Impact Assessments, facilitating public participation processes, monitoring and assessing environmental compliance by undertaking legal compliance audits for different license, approvals and permits, and managing environmental and social governance.
Stephan jointly manages a consultancy firm and project team that covers different projects and aspects of the environmental and water field.
He holds an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Monitoring and Modelling, as well as a Bachelor of Technology in Landscape Design. Stephan is a Certified Natural Scientist (Cer Sci Nat) and is proficient in several design and information systems.
Dirk is a qualified chemical engineer with more than 10 years operational, project management, plant commissioning and continuous improvement experience in the mining and manufacturing industries. Dirk’s experience includes projects throughout South Africa, as well as Saudi Arabia.
Before joining Trevali, Dirk managed operational excellence projects at Deloitte Consulting. Prior to that, he worked as Metallurgist at Minopex and DRA Global. Dirk further worked at Twinsaver as their Process Engineer and continuous improvement Engineer and started his career in 2013 as a Project Engineer at ETA Operations.
Dirk holds an MBA from Henley Business School, UK, he completed both his masters in engineering (2014) and bachelors in chemical engineering (2012) in South Africa. Dirk further completed a SAFE scrum master agile course in 2021.
Thembani has over 25 years of experience in the environmental field and has held various roles in the technical scientific space within the water resource management field. At the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), as manager he was responsible for review of the IWUL, EMPR and EIA applications and drafting of the respective Record of recommendations for further approval. Furthermore, he was also responsible for compliance monitoring and assessment of the water use activities within the Olifants Catchment.
He joined BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa Limited from 2008 until July 2021 during which he was appointed as an Environmental Manager from June 2018. Thembani provides inputs/comments during various stages of the environmental application processes in relation to EMPR/EIA/ IWULA.
He has completed a BSC Degree in Chemistry and Microbiology, Management Development and senior Management Programme, Higher Education Diploma in Science Education and Master of Business Leadership degree.
